Office 365 Exchange Online mailboxes double to 50GB

Michael Cloud, Microsoft, Office 365, TechTalk

Microsoft are ramping up the cloud services game and are now offering 50GB mailboxes to its Office 365 exchange users. That is not just a few extra Gigs either, its DOUBLE what we previously had.

The benefits of the larger mailboxes apply to its Small business and small business premium users, Midsize businesses and everyone on E1, A2, G1 E3, E4, A3, A4 and G3 accounts, although I am not quite sure what G (Government) accounts are using this service for (apart from the NSA who uses it for other reasons…)

In addition to the standard mailbox accounts getting an upgrade for free, the archive account has also been increased to 50GB. The Shared and Resource mailboxes have also been increased to 10GB.

So to everyone not using these services and still doing it on premise, good luck with your backups and matching these sizes. Now all we need is for the Office 365 / Mimecast attachment service to go live and we wont need Yousend.it, Dropbox or the likes anymore.
