Windows 8 Upgrade to cost the same in pounds as dollars

Back in July Microsoft announced the upgrade cost for Windows 8 from any version of windows since XP would be $39.00 and if you convert that at today’s exchange rate, it would be £25. We know Microsoft take in to account localized costs and taxes so we expected the cost to be a little higher in the UK.

 

However, Microsoft have said that the upgrade in the UK will be £39.00 or even worse for our European friends at €59.00. Perhaps this is because Microsoft’s Online Store is based in Germany where the tax is 19% just 1% less than the UK tax and Microsoft are going to fund the next lot of European Bailouts…
